Sierra Nevada - Lie on the beach and look up towards the peaks of Sierra Nevada. There's snow on the mountains, and they make a great day trip.
If a complete beginner, stick - if your lucky - to the beginners slope at the entrance. Then try the mainslope (Pista) a few hundred times before going down the rio. This is steep, and brings one down to the village again, known as Solynieve in the guidebooks but as Pradollano to the locals. If skiing attempts fail, hitch a ride with the huskies. For restaurants, wander round the village and take your pick.
