The Jaen province has two main appealing characteristics, the first being the Parque Natural de Cazorla which is probably the most beautiful mountain range in Andalucia. The other is its amazing Renaissance architectural heritage. There are also many hidden away villages that don´t see many visitors, yet which have real charm and interest. The Jaen landscape varies between impressive montain ranges and agricultural land covered with olive trees. The Desenaperros pass - a gap in the Sierra Morena on Jaen´s northern border is the most important northern gateway to Andalucia.
