The action group, Especialistas ¡Ya!, formed to campaign for an improved health service in Ubrique and now the wider Sierra de Cádiz will meet on September 18 to plan their next move. The new Andalucía government will have completed its first 100 days in power and the activists will discuss what has been achieved and what needs to be done. Spokesperson Antonio Rodríguez Carrión said it would be for the members to decide what happens now. They would review their own two years of campaigning. He added that it remained to be seen whether the promises of buses to take those needing treatment to the doors of the hospitals in Jerez, Ronda and Villamartín materialized. There have also been commitments to improve the facilities at the Ubrique health centre to include tele-medicine, minor surgery as well as the general enlargement of the facilities. There have also been calls for specialists in trauma, gynaecology and ophthalmology to have periodic sessions at the Ubrique health centre. He added that in a survey of health service users the Sierra region came in last place when asked to express its satisfaction with the care provided. Especialistas ¡Ya! also expressed its satisfaction that the town halls of Prado del Rey, Algodonales and Alcalá del Valle had backed the call for a new public hospital to serve the needs of the people of the Sierra de Cádiz.
