“Singing for Pleasure” - Shanty Choir Andalucía

The Shanty Choir’s repertoire consists of sea shanties and folk songs from different countries. The multinational group will be representing Germany in the “·Feria de los Pueblos” in Fuengirola in May 2008.

Il Trovatore - Moldavian National Opera

Villa de Nerja Cultural Centre Nerja. 13th April, 9 p.m.

The Moldavian National Opera returns to Nerja following the success of its previous performances. Il Trovatore was the first of several celebrated collaborations between Mozart and Da Ponte (Don Giovanni and Cosi Fan Tutte) and became one of Mozart’s most successful works.

Nerjazz ‘08

Vietnam: Ancient and Modern Artistic Heritage - Denise Heywood BA (Hons) FRGS

Villa de Nerja Cultural Centre Nerja. 15th April, 6 p.m.

This lecture explores the artistic culture of Vietnam, including the architectural legacy of French Colonialism in the cities, especially Hanoi and Saigon. It touches on the vibrant modern culture, revived since the turbulent events of the 20th Century, especially the costumes of Vietnamese women and in contemporary paintings - a fusion of eastern and western influences. It also looks back to the ancient ruins of Cham empire and, finally, it explores the art of

the Nguyen dynasty of Hue.
