During my playing lessons I see far too many people ruining good shots by not aiming correctly.

To give yourself the best change of playing a great shot your preparation must be right. One of the most important parts of preparation is aiming the clubface and the body correctly.

To achieve this follow this pre-shot routine - Stand behind the ball looking down your target line a draw an imaginary line from your ball to your target. Pick something out approximately 6 - 10 feet infront of your ball on this line. This may be an old divot, leaf, clump of grass, etc.. Then approach the ball and aim the clubface square to the object you have chosen. It is much easier to aim at something 6 feet away than your intended target that could be 200 metres away! Now take your stance and draw another imaginary line along your toes PARALLEL to your ball to target line. You are now aiming the body and club correctly and will be rewarded if you hit a good shot!

Practice this routine first on the range and before you know it you will be doing it on the course without thinking. Good luck!
